There must be a method to remove mastic mounted mirrors. I thought of sliding to slid stainless wire behind the mirror. Anybody tried it?

THIS METHOD WORKS OCCASIONALLY, ITS CALLED A CABLE OR WIRE SAW. YOU CAN BUY ONE USED FOR CUTTING PLASTIC PIPE, OR MAKE ONE FROM PIANO WIRE.FOR BEST RESULTS LUBRICATE WITH SPRAY SILICONE BECAUSE THE WIRE GENERATES SO MUCH HEAT THE MASTIC FUSES BACK TOGETHER BEHIND THE SAW.IT ALSO HELPS TO PUT SLIGHT PRESSURE AWAY FROM THE WALL WITH A WOODEN WEDGE.WEAR GLOVES,SAFETY GLASSES AND HAVE A BUDDY CLOSE BY IN CASE YOU GET INTO TROUBLE. ALSO A GOOD IDEA TO COVER THE MIRROR WITH CONTACT PAPER OR DUCT TAPE.

I like WES's advice. When I read your problem my first thought was "MOVE!".

I also need help in removing a large mirror from the bathroom wall. Is there another way of removing it without using a wire saw. Can I break it off.

IF THE MIRROR IS APPLIED DIRECTLY TO PAINT OR WALLPAPER 9 TIMES OUT OF TEN IT CAN JUST BE PULLED OFF. A PROFESSIONAL USES A SUCTION CUP. WHEN GIVEN A SUDDEN JERK NORMALLY A SMALL PIECE OF THE PAPER COMES OFF.
I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS FOR THE DIY'ER.AFTER MANY YEARS WORKING WITH GLASS I AM IMPERVIOUS TO CUTS, AND DON'T HAVE MUCH BLOOD LEFT ANYWAY.BUT YOU SHOULD CALL A GLASS SHOP FOR A SERVICE CALL, IT SHOULD ONLY BE SLIGHTLY MORE THAN YOUR EMERGENCY ROOM COPAYMENT.
