The pull chain that controls the overhead fan speed on our Pacific Breeze fan has pulled out. I took off the cover (that covers with wires, etc) and it appears that the pull chain originated from a little round, black plastic box that has a couple of wires coming out of it. I thought maybe I could open this little plastic box and insert the pull chain back into it but it doesn't appear to open. How can I get my pull chain attached back in the little black box?

I think you'll need to buy a new little switch. Carefully record the connections before you remove it, then take it to the store with you so that you can buy an exact replacement. If you cannot find an exact replacement in the store, call the manufacturer.
