What would cause an odor to come from the toilet. I've had this toilet for about 2 years now. And the problem started about 1 month ago.

My first thought would be a wax seal that has failed. The smell would be coming from under the toilet and coming out around the base. This bears looking into as it could be water leaking also. Good luck.

Seems like the odor is coming from the bowl itself. It will be fresh when I clean it. But about 15 minutes later the smell is back.

Hate to put it this way but I guess you'll have to sniff around the base. As long as there is water in the bowl the trap in the toilet will keep sewer gas from entering the home. So you have either a bad wax seal or it is the water itself that smells.
Only other thing I can suggest is to pour a cup of bleach into the tank and then flush the toilet. There may be some cause for odor on the inside of the rim and this is the only way to get to it. Please do not make this a weekly ritual. Once is not going to hurt the seals in the toilet but repeated use will. This is whyI recommend that bleach tablets not be used in the tank but the bowl only. Good luck.
