Welcome to the forums, crt!
Unfortunately, nothing comes to mind, the problem being the required hook bolt of some sort for the sliding door in addition to being operable from both sides.
If it was just one side, you could get something like the Octopod, a lockable bolt. http://www.majormfg.com/patio_door_locks.htm#5002-1
You never know though, perhaps someone else has run across something that may work and will post.

Hi crt;
The only after market patio door lock that I've had experience with that allows both inside and outside access is one made by Miwa.
It mounts on the inside face of the door and has a keyed cylinder for outside access and either a thumbturn or key (your choice) on the inside. A hook bolt is thrown into a surface mounted keeper.
These come in Weiser, Schlage or Kwikset keyways..maybe more but that's all I've ever needed.
A Google search turned up a website, but with no mention of the patio door lock. A locksmith or big box store should be able to order you one though.
They price in the range of around $45 here in Ontario, last I checked.
Hope that helps
Regards
