Welcome to the forums

Is your furnace gas or electric? Is the pilot light lit or the breaker turned on?
This question would best be answered in the plumbing section - either gas & oil heat or heat pump and elec heat.

it is a gas furnace with an electric piolt. the piolet and blower both come on but the air that come out of the vent is not hot.

If you will repost your question in 'gas and oil heat' under plumbing I'm sure you will get a quick answer. I can only guess that for some reason the pilot light is not igniting the burner.

Just realized you said you had an electric igniter - are you sure that gas is reaching the burner?

If you are using LP gas you (like most people) will turn the tank valve off during the summer months and if you have even the tiniest of leaks in the line from the tank to the unit it will fill with air and have to be bled. If you wish you can probably keep turning it on and off and after perhaps a couple of times or 50 times the small orfice opening for the pilot flame will bleed enough air to get good gas back to that point and the unit will function normally. I do not recommend anyone that is unfamiliar with Gas units to self bleed a line so either try turning it on and off a few times or call for service. Note: you could very possibly have some other problem maybe a bad combustion air fan etc. most people whom have a highly volatile fossil fuel burning device INSIDE their home would agree that it is a good idea to have it professionally serviced and checked before the heating season begins. I believe in DIY or I would not be here not trying to discourage a man. If you really want to make a self repair go to the heat and furnace section of this website lots of real knowledgable/helpful guys in there. :)
