Hi :

One of the glass flower vases that my friend had presented me has broken. A 1.5 " section has chipped off from the mouth of the vase. The original height is around 8 " and it is from IKEA. I am planning to use it after cutting the jagged edges. How do I do it ? Is there a special kind of tool available or can we use any household tools ?
Thanks in advance.

Hi InduSri, this is not a job you can do, the edge has to be ground down on a belt sander using a wet sandpaper, take it to your local glass merchants, they will be able to do this for you, it is not that exspensive but a word of caution if the Vase breakes whilst it is being ground the glass company will not take responsibility as they will work on your property at your own cost ie if it breaks you have to pay to replace it not the glass company, it does happen but not often it is still easier to let them do it than try doing it yourself unless you have the right equipment, it can be done by hand but will take a long time to do and the rim may not end up even, I hope this helps a little, Handyman.
