Lighting, Light Fixtures, Ceiling and Exhaust Fans - Enegry efficient bulbs, 75 wt replacement in 60wt fixture

I recently got a new house and I replaced most of the bulbs i use frequently with the new CFL. The only bulbs i could find to put in an enclosed fixture were 75 wt replacements, I figured they would be ok since they use only 20 watts. Has anyone had any experience with this. I've asked several people and they all look at me like i'm crazy, or they have no idea what energy efficient bulbs are. I have no clue on electrical stuff, so i was wondering if anyone else has done this and if you ever had any problems with this.

Many people have done this, it's a good idea, and you should have no problems with it. The only caveat is that these bulbs are generally not dimmable. They can also be slow to warm up to full brightness, and very slow to warm up to full brightness when used outdoors.

Usually, the watt rating on a fixture is for the thermal output of an incandescent bulb. Since a 20W CF bulb puts out significantly less heat than a 60W incandescent, you are safe.
