My attic got soaked during hurricane katrina because of roof damage. Pretty much all of the insulation was wet, but then dried out while I was waiting to get the roof repaired. I have a lot of ceiling that will have to be replaced and I know the insulation in those rooms will come down, but will all of the insulation need to be replaced? Some of my ceilings will only need to be scraped and repainted. Since the insulation is now dry, can I just leave it alone in those places?
My insulation looks like blown fiberglass on top of the roll out type of fiberglass. Parts of the attic are very hard to get to and I have not found a contractor yet who will even give me a quote on removing and replacing. :(

Your biggest problem would probably be mold getting started. Personally I would get it all replaced.

Thanks for your reply. The mold is a big fear for me. I was hoping the insulation would be OK if it dried out, but I guess I need to keep trying to get a contractor out.
