Here are the details:
1. San Jose, CA and the ambient temperature at night is around 60 F.
2. One story house with stucco exterior and drywall with some insulation. There’s attic insulation.
3. Tempstar Model NTN6050FBG1, single stage 80%, 2 years old.
4. Gas
5. Thermostat is battery operated Honeywell programmable from HomeDepot. I do not have a central air conditioner.
My 2 yrs old gas furnace does not ignite when the temperature is set to 74 F (room temp was 68 F). The system switch was set to Heat and Fan set to auto. The thermostat displayed the heating symbol. I hear the combustion blower running but no flame. The gas valve was turned on.
I set the Fan to manual on and the main blower was running. There is no diagnostic light on this model and the gas valve is switched to on. This model is electronically lighted so there’s no pilot light.
This system was working a month ago and all I did was replaced the filter.
What could be wrong and how can I test it? Can I replace any part myself?
The furnace was bought brand new and installed by someone I know so the warranty is probably voided.
Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

Do you know if it has a HSI "Hot Surface Ignitor" to light the burners? If so does it glow red on a call for heat?

I do not know for sure if it has a HSI. I checked the installation and users manual and there are replacement part number for pilot, ignitor/sensor but no HSI. Where else can I check to make sure I have one or not?
I will call PG&E today.
I would appreciate more suggestions.
Thanks.

PG & E came out but I don't think the technition knows about the HSI and was expecting sparks.
After he left, I found the HSI and checked it without touching it with my hand. It does not looked cracked or damaged.
Can someone suggest how to check to see if the pressure switch or the control board is at fault?
Thanks

If you watch the hsi while the furnace is going through a start up cycle it should get cherry red. If it don't check voltage to it, if voltage is there replace the hsi.

Unplug HSI & do continuity check thru it. If ok install your meter on the other plug and watch meter as furnace goes thru cycle. It should start to glow during sequence. Sorry PG&E failed you. You could always call back for another rep.(they should know this stuff)
