I was wondering if it is a must that you take fresh air from outside for a pellet stove. I can run a pipe out my ash dump but it would be much easier to take the air from the room. Also, this thread was up and was wondering if anybody had answers to it. thanks, so much, Jason

It may depend on the stove, but there are some, like my Harman, that do not require outside air

thanks Dave. I might run the intake through the ash dump. the guy that owned it before said it never had an intake to the outside. where does your take fresh air, from the rear or front??

Many new pellet stoves do not require fresh air intake for combustion, however, if the stove takes the room air (that you are heating) in for combustion and then vents it outside then why intentionally create an exhaust of warm air to the outside? Seems counter productive.
I always recommend fresh combustion air intake.
