Hi, I have wooden cornices with a shirred fabric insert. I have been able to remove the insert, and would like to replace the fabric. The fabric I am using is heavier than the one removed. The fabric has a luann wood board onto which the fabric is enveloped over. Once this has been completed, I am at a loss to figure out how to re-attach the board and fabric onto the cornice itself. (There is another luann board onto which this new one will be attached). Is there some advice as to how to do this?

can't you tell how was it originally attached?

It was originally applied with heavy industrial staples from the back going thru the two luann boards. I bought a heavy duty staple gun, and using 9/16th staples, it doesn't work. Also have tried using velcro, and that doesn't hold it tight. :(

how about using real screws? if you go thru the front, you could hide the screw heads with the gathered fabric, couldn't you?

I hadn't thought about using screws. It might work if I can get some small enouh to hide inside the shirred portions. Thanks for the suggestion. I need to wait a few days until my back heals to get back up on the stepladder!
appreciate the suggestion.
