i will be replacing the locks on a property and will be opting for a keyed alike solution. since the deadbolts are not within arms distance from a window, i can use single cylinder locks. but my concern is the handle lock. i prefer that the knob be either locked or unlocked from both the exterior AND interior. too many times, tenants walk out the door and do not check if it is locked. since they can open the door with out flipping the thumb turn, they keep getting locked out!

is there a title, label or something i can look for when shopping at my local hardware store to make sure i pick up the correct device?

many thanks!

We had the same general question in another thread not too long ago and the only solution seemed to be to try a different brand lock. The idea you're refering to is that the knob can be locked, but it will still turn from the inside. If you want a lock that will not turn on the inside when locked (thus making lockouts less likely), try switching to kwikset brand locks.

Thank you J.M.C.

I just got back from Walmart where they carry Brinks branded locks that use the Kwikset key. In the past I was always using Schlage brand and thus kept running into lockouts. I like the Kwikset Titan Series, so i'm off to pick up a bunch of those.
