I just did a replacement install of a Kenmore Ultrawash Model 17039. I'm pretty sure that everything is hooked up correctly and my level confirms that it is level. The problem I am experiencing is that the door is very hard to shut, before the latch catches. The unit will run, wash, and drain correctly, but I can tell the door is not supposed to be that hard to close. Any ideas on adjustments I can make to allow the latch catch easily? Thanks,

"hard to close" is a relative term. Most dishwasher are a little harder to close than ones that have been used for a while as the door gasket may need to seat in a litlle. However, if you go to where you bought it and test drive a model there and there is a considerable differance, than you may have somewhat of a problem.
First off, ensure the door isn't hitting the counter top or sides just befor latching. Than open the door and look at the latch/catch located on the dishwasher body, some are mounted with adjustable screws and you may be able to loosen them a bit to make shutting the door easier. Just be careful not to go to far, or your door gasket will not seal and you will have a leak.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies.

I had my 'guy' come look at since I am stumped. He validated that its level, flush, and should close easily without any obstructions. He concurred that the door is unusually hard to close an went on to say he's never seen this happen before. He also suggested that with time it might become easier to close.

At the store, the model closest to mine did close much easier. Half of the machines on display didn't even latch. The idiot salesman said they would close properly when installed.

Also, the latch is not adjustable.

I guess I'll just live with it. Thanks for the replies.
