Hi.
We did a kitchen remodel last year where we added a 4'x4' skylight and a tunnel for it that is 10'x8' at the base and goes up to 4'x4' at the skylight. It's really unique, a custom design by me. I would like to insulate it in the attic, please tell me the best way to go about this. It does have some 2x4 supports of course, but not in a uniform way like the attic floor.

The flat part of the ceiling that is left (not much) has old (1978) blown in insulation that was really mussed up after the remodel from all the work done in the attic. Should I replace that as well?

thanks.

An idea you might consider is to have the skylight walls spray foamed since the 2X4's are irregularlly spaced. Cleaning out the old blow in insulation around it and spraying the ceiling from above as well could be considered.
