Flooring Tile - Considering a BIG project

Greetings,
I am considering a huge tiling project, and would like to get a little input before I make my final decision.
I have just redone my entire basement.
Starting with the exterior landscape I have taken every step possible to prevent water from finding its way into my new space.
I am afraid that one day down the road, something might happen, and water will get in. I have no history to justify my fear, and I have gone to great lengths to prevent it from ever happening, but there is always a chance.

Currently my floors are bare concrete. The floors are flat, smooth, free from cracks, and unsealed.
I am thinking of tiling the whole thing and using area carpets to warm the look up.
If water was to ever get in, I could clean and dry the area rugs, but my question is, how would the tile hold up?
I would think it would be fine, but I am not the expert.
The total area I planned on Tiling is around 800 square feet.

The only thing I would add is, cost more, but a crack isolation membrane isn't a bad idea over a slab, just in case, but if this floor has been crack free for a few years or more, you should be fine with just a good modified thinset.:)

Yes, the floor is 30 years old...not 1 blemish.
