All of the sudden last night while my electric dryer is running, it makes this weird noise then emits a "gas" type smell. It still runs and heats up, but I am concerned that this "gas" maybe be something dangerous for my family or that the dryer may burst into flames or somesuch......Any help would be appreciated!!!

"weird noise" covers a lot of ground. Try to get a little[lot] more specific.
