Hello,

I have an old freezer I use in the garage. Someone left it open by accident and defrosted all of the contents. I would like to screw on a metal hasp to lock the freezer.

Is it alright to screw on a metal hasp to the exterior of a freezer? I plan on screwing the metal screws about half an inch deep.

Thanks,

Joey

cathlabrunner,

Drilling into a freezer can be a risky operation. In some cases, the condensor tubing is actually right against the inside of the cabinet walls. This is one way the freezer/refrigerator can dissipate heat. This arrangement is more likely found on non-frostfree types. The evaporator lines on this type of box may also be in harms way for drilling.

Good luck,

don't drill, use epoxy or construction adhesive.

Thanks Dave,

I will take your advice and use some sort of epoxy, etc. Any brands you suggest?

any epoxy should fit this application.I've had good luck with dev-con 5 minuite epoxy.
