We are getting ready to insulate our attic. The house is 30 years old and the only insulation is some loose stuff, probably from when the house was built. Is it ok to put fiberglass batts between the joists on top of the loose stuff or do we have to remove the loose stuff first?
Any advice would be appreciated.

You can put the new right on top of the old. IF IF there is no paper as a V/B on it at all. If there is no V/B under the old now. You can take it out. Put the new down first paper to the room or ceiling side and the old back on top of it.

Thank you very much. I thought I had read this somewhere, but my husband disagreed, and you know how THAT goes. :wall:
