CarpetsDoneWright, a couple weeks back you made a list of recommended manufacturers for wood flooring:

Mirage
Muskoka
Anderson
BR-111
Columbia
Delamano
Mannington
Mullican
Pinnacle
Virgina Vintage
Sun Paratech
Westhollow
Johnson

I've been looking at local retailers for these brands, and found Mirage and BR-111 at one. I have to say the Mirage (Santos Mahogany) appears to be very nice (I'm looking at engineered wood btw). However, the BR-111 engineered sample is pitiful by comparison with either the Mirage or Tarkett samples I have here. The top layer of hardwood is barely 1/32" thick, and the entire piece looks nowhere near as "grunty" as either the Mirage or the Tarkett. What's up with that?

Anyway, I really like the look of the bevels between individual planks on both solid and engineered (single plank). It seems that all of the long plank engineered samples I have seen don't have this "feature". Do you (or anybody else) know if it is possible to get long planks from manufacturers with these bevels?

One last question. I have samples of both a Mirage and a Tarkett Santos Mahogany and the Mirage is noticably better, mainly because it is single plank vs long plank and going back to my question about the bevels, I like the look of that a bit more. The Mirage stuff is $9.20/sqft from this particular retailer while the Tarkett is in the $7 range. Worth it? My eyes say "I think so" but my wallet has other ideas.

Unfortunateley most of the engineered floors are limited to 2 to 5 sizes from 12 to 40 inches. Another possibility would be the dale's collection by columbia good wear layer planks are 7in w by 8ft long

You're talking about the wear layer on the 5/16 br111 which I agree is pitiful. However they also make a 3/8" engineered wood in the Casanova and Triangulo models which are excellent. They are 1/8" think wood layer which is about as good as you can get in engineered wood. I'm getting the Triangulo Brazilian Cherry myself :)
