Now my brother has suggested using brick on top of my patio slab for my knee wall, which would look great, but how would the rain drain away and not pool on the sides? Oh and Lefty, thank you for thr idea for spacers under the PT 2x4 baseplate.

Bricks could work, provided that you let gaps in the mortar (1/2" in the center of each brick maybe) so the water could drain out.
