Hi,
Any handsaw has same function as JigSaw? I am trying to cut a square hole in my laminate during my installation of laminate floor.
KeyHole saw or Coping saw?
BTW: I don't want to buy jigsaw because it seems a overkill in this project.
Thanks
Acton

Drill a hole into the laminate with your drill and use the jigsaw to shape a square.

A sharp keyhole saw will do the job. Have you looked at Harbor Freight Tools? They have a retail store here and a jig saw from them is $9, when they put them on sale. $11 angle grinders. I bought the angle grinder 4 years ago just to see and use as a back up, and it has not failed yet, and I end up using it so I don't burn up my expensive Milwaukee

Would have been the first thing I bought for that project.

Since you adment about not wanting to purchase a jigsaw(could be useful in future projects), I would check out local tool rental centers. They may have a jigsaw you can rent. The rental price is much less than the cost to purchase one but the deposit(usually refundable) may be the cost to replace incase of theft. Good luck with your project.
