Hello, I just finished having my new deck built today. Being October and living in pennsylvania i won't be able to seal it until next spring. Is this ok. When i do seal it what do i use.The wood is treated lumber. I would like it to have a little darker appearence. I do not want to put something on the deck that i will have to strip off later and i want the sealer to last more than one season. I have never done this before. what should i buy and where would i buy it. dont care about the price.

You'll want to stain it with a good quality stain
It sounds like you would like Cabot's "Clear" oil-based stain
It adds a little golden-brownish to the wood that evens it out a bit
Decks out here get the sun, salt water, and snow, so it's real tough on decks
The Cabot oil doesn't let me down
"Clear" is my most popular color

I don't like to let decks go through the winter untreated, but if your PT is still to wet to stain, it probably should wait until spring
If it is weathered by then you may want to use a brightener before staining-possibly a cleaner, then a brightener depending on how it looks

I'd recommend staying away from most "sealers", as it sounds like that is something you wouldn't want
The stain will seal the wood much better than most sealers would

I couldn't agree more.
