According to "Bauer" they had hardwood floors in their kitchen and are quite happy. However, in another board message wood in the kitchen was NOT recommended. (Water seepage in cracks.) We would really like the wood though, and would like to know what finish they used and how much? Right now we have ugly linoleum and would like to remove it, and the adhesive, (Another question) but due to cost, are unable due to remove it at this time. We are however in the process of refinishing the rest of our Oak floors, (Good condition, but stained) and would like to blend the kitchen with the rest. P.S. we also have kids and a dog. (Puppy)

They are the hardwood floor folks.

Have you thought of prefinished hardwood flooring? No sanding or any other prep work.

I have hardwood floors in my kitchen and couldn't be happier with them.I have oak flooring which we installed and finished ourselves. We used a oil sealer/hardener to finish.I also have pets and after 6 yrs the floors still look brand new.

We recently installed 3 1/4" Grade 3 maple flooring in our kitchen, dining and front entry/hall and we love it. Most think it's hickory. We went for a commercial grade satin finish coat which was recommended since we have 4 kids under 7. The commercial grade will hold up to most anything -the satin hides a lot of the scuff marks you would see in semi-higloss finish. We never once had anyone (from a very reputable flooring store) tell us to NOT put wood in our kitchen. I love the wood flooring in the kitchen - easy on the knees and very warm on bare feet. I highly recommend it.
