I need to know how the top of my Maytag top loader washer comes off , so i can fix the lidswitch for the washer power. the spring came off and i can not get to the notch for the spring attachment.

Depending on how old it is, You should be able to access things from inside the console.
1. Unplug
2. Remove the 2 screws on the top of the console (2 inner screws if there are 4 screws.
3. Console face should lift off.
If you need to get under the top:
1. Remove two star screws in front panel, near the floor (usually under angled lip in front panel)
2. Swing bottom of panel outward, panel will come off.
3. remove 2 3/8" screws securing front of washer top
4. The top will now lift up. It is hinged in the back, so it won't fall off.
