Hi -
We have a three level deck, and have sealed it once since we've moved in 2 years ago -after spending a day sealing the floor of the decks, and a weekend putting sealant on the 160 or so spindles and seemingly unending railing, I'm looking for a sealant that will last more than a year before reapplication.
The deck gets strong afternoon sun, and has faded a bit since I applied the sealant the last time. ( I used a semi transparent sealant with a light brown tint - matching the current color for the deck that the previous owners had done)
I was looking for a clear or semi transparent sealant that would last more than a year- any suggestions?
Thanks!

Debbie,
you didn't mention what you used, but I would suggest Cabot's, Silkkens, SuperDeck, or similar. Expect to pay top dollar for it, but it'll last twice as long as the cheap stuff, and therefore only require 1/2 the time. Quite a savings.

Also generally speaking the more pigment the stain/sealer has the longer it will last. Clear or light tint stains will not last as long as a full bodied stain. The longest lasting stains/sealers almost always cost more but as lefty said when you figure in the amount of time redoing [and rebuying material] the costlier material is suddenly more affordable.

Get out of the big box stores and go to a paint store or lumberyard.
