Hi, I have a maytag jetclean dishwasher quite plus model#: MDB6100AWW .
The problem is I wernt down into the basement today and found thier was a big puddle of water under it. I took the baseboard cover off of the dishwasher and seen that their was some kind of container under the dishwasher that holds water, probably about 2 pints worth, and inside of the dishwasher their seems to be some kind of inlet for the container, to me it kind of looks like this is some kind of overflow protection to catch any overflown water. well what happend was this container overflowed and I dont know why. The day before I installed a new kitchen sink and had to turn the hot water off under the sink, the dishwasher tap's off of this line so it got turned off to. could this have been part of the reason. And is that container supposed to be filled with water. thanx

It sounds as though the dishwasher is overflowing. There souldn't be any water in the container, as I believe it is an air vent.
Check to make sure the dishwasher is able to drain properly, first of all.

Ok, I emptied that container and pu it back I then ran the dishwasher through a full washing cycle and It seemed to run fine. No water reentered that container, and all the water drained from the dishwasher fine. It seems to be fixed now. But why did that happen.

Hard to say why it happened. I've seen that kind of thing before, and then it never happens again. I would recommend not going too far from home while the machine is running, for a while, just to make sure it's ok.
