:confused: Don't know where to start. except that the cabinet is torn out and the washer fits. There has not been a dishwasher previously. Can a novice handle the elec and plumbing? Help! :confused:

With patience, a novice should be able to do this.
First, you will need an source of electricity. Dishwashers are usually hard-wired, and should be on their own circuit. If this isn't available, and you are inexperienced, or unsure with electrical, I would suggest calling an electrician.
Second, you will need a water supply. Usually, most hardware stores sell kits for this. Make sure you tap into your hot water line, not cold :D
Last, a drain connection under the sink. You can also get these pieces from the local hardware store. You will likely have to cut and glue the piece into your current drain. Make sure the pieces fit, and the proper glue is used.
Always check for leaks after installing!
