Have the paperbacking from wall paper still attached to the wall in closet. The end result it to paint the closet. I thought I read that you could paint the paperbacking with gardz instead of removing it. I don't know that that was right cause it bubbled in certain places. So we have a majority of paperbacking with a coat of guardz on it and what do we do now. Any help would be appreciated since we don't know what to do now. Thank you!!! :wall:

If it bubbled, then it would have come off with regular stripping methods.
What to do now? Try to remove it.
Gardz should only be used on it if it won't come off, and as a last resort.

Since the paperbacking already has a coat of guardz on it(which was done yesterday morning) would it be better to just do your suggestion as a last resort or do we try to take the backing off. If we should take it off how do we do that if it already has guardz on it. Your help is appreciated!!!!!! At least now we know the right way to do it! hahaha

In this case, I would cut out any/all bbbled or loose areas, and make sure everything else is down real tight. Then skimcoat the cutout/rough areas until smooth. Then re-Gardz the repaired areas, and lightly sand all the surfaces. Remove the sanding dust and paint way.
