Morning All,

Has anyone used a product like the MyKey 2300? A couple of weekends ago I watched I think This Old House where they showed a keyfob as a RFID card for gaining access to the home. Just tried a Google search and found MyKey 2300, and at a whopping $300.

The show featured a system where a faceplate at the door was used to scan an RFID (radio-frequency ID?) keyfob that was the size of dime and hung on one's keychain. Unfortunately, I am having trouble finding this product or one like it.

The one featured on the show was connected centrally to a computer-based system which logged ingress & egree activities, etc. and offered multi-user management.

Those older electronic systems with the ugly doorplates and buttons are not what I am looking for as they are difficult to mate to the architectural design of the home.

Hi GhostD,

I am not familiar with the MyKey2300 at all. They sound like a really good system, with all the bells and whistles. However, from my experience, the price is pretty good for all the system does. They do get way more expensive than that, as you probably know.

Also, not knowing what the front of your house looks like, it would be hard to suggest something without knowing the layout first. Try looking it up on something other than google, like askjeeves, or even do an ebay search. You may just get lucky.

I currently bought one of those mykey2300 that you are talking about and it work's great. I have had no problem's with the product as of yet. I did some research on that product and saw a few place's that sold that item. thinkgeek.com has it for 299.99 and mykey2300.com has it for 299.99 as well. I bought mine for 279.99 at cydus-solutions.com they also have a 4000R that i recently bought and it is way better then the 2300. It come's with a remote that I must say work's great. The auto locking function is the best though. I would say the 2300 is a 8 But the 4000R is a 10. Before you think about buying it research it a little.
