NO ... the wife's not putting on a show. I have a question.
Where is the flashing supposed to go when you attach a deck to your house? Does it go on top of the ledger, under the deck boards, or on top of the deck boards? ... or someplace else?

Its supposed to go on top of the ledger, up under your siding and under the decking.
What time is her show at again? :D

In this situation do you see any need to put spacing between the house and the ledger board ? I'm right at this step myself

Nope. The flashing should go behind the siding and over the ledger. That will prevent anything from getting behind the ledger board.
