I will be carpeting my basement when I finish it and was wondering if tack strips are the only way to go, or if the carpet can be glued down since it will be on a concrete floor. If so, how is the pad AND carpeting attached to the floor? If I were to glue, would I have to use the carpet that already has the pad atached?
I'm doing all of the construction myself and was wondering if this is something I can do since I've never laid carpet before.

It's called double stick You get a special pad, full spead glue it to the floor. Then glue the carpet to it. If you have any seams, it would be best to have a qualified installer do it. If your going to do this now while it is cold, get lots of heat in the basement, or it will be like working with cardboard...Very stiff!!
