Cool

I'm not a carpet installer, but when the professionals installed our wall-to-wall carpeting on our staircase, they secured the carpet at the top (one very long piece), and nailed tack strips about 3/8" out from the back of the treads, and tamped the carpeting back onto those tack strips, worked their way down, and then secured the carpet at the bottom. Good Luck!

Exclamation

You need an upolstery stapler and some carpet glue. Cut your carpet as wide as you need it for the staircase. Leave it long. Square it off at the bottom. Then staple the face good, making sure you don't trap any nap. Glue the stair tread, and stretch the carpet as much as possible. Then tack it good, the the back of the tread. Trim off excess length. I say keep it a little long because it is easier to grab, when you want to stretch it.
