Hi,

Lots of great information here but I'm still undecided.

I'm mainly looking at Wood and Composite blinds but I am willing to explore other options too.

Probably leaning towards an off white color, but the stains look nice too

So far I've found the following

Wood - Humidity can effect, lighter than composite, stains tend to look better.

Composite - Humidity doesn't effect as much, heavier than wood but lighter than faux, stains don't look as good.

Most of our windows are 60" by 60"

Thank you very much for the help

Brett

do you have trim/mouldings around your windows? stained or painted?

are wanting a very light & airy feeling room? or warm & cozy?

There is no trim/moldings around the windows.

I like spacious, definitely don't want a dark closed in feeling. I leaning towards white because I think it will give a lightly more spacious feeling.

I'm still really undecided on wood or composite though

Thank you

Brett

I think at this point you need to decide what you want to spend your money on. Would it bother you if you had composite blinds? Will it affect resale value if you plan on not staying at the location for long? Are there any maintenance differences between the two that you do not care for?

I am putting composites in my house. Wood isn't going to affect resale, the homes around me effect resale more than wood blinds. I choose composites too because I don't foresee anyone going up to my blinds examining for wood or composite materials! ;)

Composite is a blend or mixture of wood partials, plastic and bonding materials. It's molded into looking like whatever the manufacture wants it to be, like composite blind slats. Also, for example composite moldings for easier installs of crown molding. More commonly used (but not the same grade) was composites in furniture, also known as partial board.

As long as you are going for a color, go with composite. I did my in-laws' lake place with these and they look great and I am not worried about them ever warping. They even look like painted wood because there is 'grain' stamped into the plastic.
