Hey all,

I'm house manager at a fraternity house, and we just got some new carpet put in. Unfortunately, they also put the carpet in where we play beer pong. So when you get a bunch of drunk college kids together, they tend to spill beer all over the place. Since it is new carpet, we'd like to keep it looking new for at least a few years, so the alumni don't feel they're wasting their money. So my question is, is there something we could use/do that would soak up the beer effeciently, and something drunk college-age kids could do? As of now, I got this powder that seems to soak it up pretty nice, but you have to use a lot of it and I'm not sure how long you can use it for after the stain occurs. I honestly don't know much about stain removal, so any help would be appreciated, thank you!

First off vaccum...vaccum...vaccumm all that powder out...that stuff absorbs well but it can be a pain getting it out of the carpet.

Get a DIY machine or rent one. Apply a protein spotter to a area larger than the spill u can see...as it is going to spread outward and downward in the carpet. Protein spotters are found at pet stores and local home improvement stores...Apply let dwell10-15 mins...rinse with hottest water possible. Make plenty of dry passes with the diy machine. Repeated appilcations may be needed..

Then go get a cheap area rug throw down over your beer bong area. Make sure you can some plastic sheeting and toss down underneath that cutting it smaller than the rug so the rug "bites" the carpet and doesnt cause a slipping hazard. . And instead of cleaning your new carpet..when your area rug gets junked toss and replace it.

You will be able to clean the carpet but not the carpet cushion beneath or subfloor. Liquids tend not only settle downward but outward several times the size of the affected surface area. Beer tends to have a pungent odor and odor beneath carpet will tend to be more noticeable on warm, humid days.

As indicated, an enzyme digester cleaner and deodorizer product for organic stains and odors will be helpful. Too, protecting the carpet from future spills should be a priority.
