my pine walls and ceilings have a golden hue in them lighter and darker in different spots why is this ? i dont want to bleach. the finish seems to be all off. also i see where pictures and book cases have been should i try to blend the colors somewhat with shellac before applying poly ? never done anything like this before but i ask alot of questions.. thanx :mask:

The color difference is due to exposure (or lack thereof) to sunlight.

Amber shellac might be the answer to darken the lighter areas. I'd try it on a scrap piece of wood first to see what the effect is.

Check the label on the poly before you do anything - some will go over shellac, some won't. If it doesn't say, check with the manufacturer.
