A friend changed the batteries on his Ademco wireless transmitters and now some of the zones are showing open lines. What do you think the problem is?

When ademco transmitter are opened, they generate a tamper signal, which doesn't restore automatically. All you have to do is enter the disarm sequence (code + 1) a couple of times.

If it doesn't clear after that, check to make sure that the batteries are in right and are actually good. Those lithium batteries sometimes don't get the stock rotated like they should (for most devices, they last a couple of years, at least), and sometimes you get one that's bad off of the shelf.
