:thinker: hi can anyone help me i have a key lock safe and have lost both my keys to open it, i have the key number and model number of the safe , is there a way i can get a new key. I have already contacted the place i puchased it from and they dont keep any spare keys. I realy cant afford a locksmith and dont want to damage the safe . xx

Hi Mich,

And welcome to the board. How big is your safe? Is it portable? Or is it bolted down? If it's portable, take it to your local locksmith. I know you said you can't really afford one, and I appreciate that. However by taking it to them, it saves you the cost of a service call.

Now, here's the sticky part. Does it have a Safe Deposit type lock? If so, the person that does the work on the lock will either destroy the lock, or drill the safe from the back to see if the lock can be unscrewed/removed, and opened that way. If that is the route chosen, he should be able to make keys for it.

If it has a standard cylindrical lock, that is easier. The locks can usually be picked open if the person is experienced. (Not everyone can do it as there is more to it than just picking).

All I can say is good luck, I hope this gives you some idea what this is going to be like. Post back and keep us informed as to how it goes.
