I am really interested in installing laminate flooring throughout my apartment. I have already had estimates done and proves to be somewhat costly. I am pretty good with stuff like this once given the proper instruction. My question is this, is this project for the lay- man and are there any vidoes for help?

first, you gotta have the tools. which is expensive. do you have....
table saw? sliding miter saw? jigsaw?
also useful is doorjam undercut saw. (but you can do it by hand.)
if youve got the tools then you just gotta follow directions.
if its over concrete (which i imagine a apartment would be) make sure you have a moisture barrier and padding. (can be 2 in 1 if you want)
then just make sure you undercut all the doors and ALWAYS MAINTAIN AN EXPANSION GAP. if you fail in this one area, it could be your whole floor.
also, yes, there are videos to pick up and watch. definately pick one up and watch it. it would be worth the 15 bucks just in the time saved. (there are tons of tricks to measuring)
we should write a how-to guide for installing laminate floors. anyone agree?

i have a vhs tape that covers laminate flooring. i used its knowledge and a lil luck and did a good job when i put 6 cases down. maybe you will have the same luck.
make sure you get the plastic block and the metal tuck bar along with the underlayment. home depot didnt have it together but when i went to costco they had it 2gether and for 2 bucks cheaper. i also found the flooring 26$ per box at costco compared to $29-31 at home depot.
one more thing, if you want the video i can send it to you, and you can just send me payment for shipping upon your receiving the tape of course.
good luck!!!
