I have a DSC 832 system with one partition, and it is operating fine.

This week, I connected a new 5501Z keypad in my barn (about 400 feet away) and enrolled it in partition 2.
I enabled the 2nd partition and assigned a zone to the keypad. Connected a single entry contact to the keypad.

The problem: The trouble led on the keypad is on, and won't go off (even after system power down and re-start).

* 2 on the offending keypad results in a blank screen.
* 2 on other system keypads say "no system troubles"

* 4 from the offending keypad results in a successful test (including telephone dial).

Partition 2 arms successfully from the keypad and in all other ways, looks to be normal.

Basically, the system looks to be operating normally but the trouble led won't go off.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried running the supervision routine (*8 [installer code] 902)?

Also, even in a different partition, the keypad needs a different slot than the other one. (that bit about LCD keypads being on slot 8 only means that one of the LCD keypads in the system must be in slot 8).

I ran 902 and then verified that the system was seeing the kepad with 903 - all checked out OK. I have 3 keypads: one enrolled as 12, one enrolled as 18 and the last one (the troublesome one) enrolled as 21.

Could one of my wires be shorting? I have a clock, so I know that the red one is good. I can arm the system - does that mead the green and yellow are OK? What about the black? I'll check these with an ohm meter, perhaps. Don't know what else to do.
