I would like to run a cable wire under the
rug and against the wall. Will I have a problem getting the rug back the way it is and do I need to know anything about how to do it.
Thanks

Under no circumstances should you run any kind of cable under a carpet. If you try to put it near the edge, you run the risk of damaging the cable with the tack strip. If it carries any kind of current, you also run the risk of setting the house on fire.

There are plastic clips you can buy to attach the cable to the bottom of the baseboard. Although this leaves the cable visible, it's much safer than the "under the carpet method".

Sorry, but, please don't run cable under the carpet. As another alternative, you can drill a hole in the floor, run the cable into the basement, along the ceiling and then back up into the appropriate spot in the room above.
