This site is filled with a ton of useful info, so I hope someone can help me... :)

the vista 10p alarm has three keypads (front entry, garage entry, master bedroom upstairs), one wireless motion detector downstairs and a wired smoke detector upstairs. The system has been in use for 2 years in our house, which was newly built when we moved in.

The keypad in the master bedroom has been occassianally beeping. There are no LO BAT warnings on the keypads. I went ahead and changed the battery in the control panel and the wireless motion detector. I could not find any battery for the smoke detector (there was a wire coming out the ceiling that that hooked directly into the smoke detector.

What could be causing the beeping in just the keypad in the master bedroom...

Let me know if any other info is needed on this...THanks for any help...

Is this a Vista 20P or a Vista 10se? There's a big difference, and there is not a Vista 10P model.

Usually if there is some sort of trouble, there is some kind of code or indicator.

it is definitely a Vista 10P (it is on the label inside the control panel)...

here is a link to the 10P

10P Link (http://www.basshome.com/product_4520_detailed.htm)

10P Link From Honeywell.com (http://www.security.honeywell.com/hsce/products/control/bu/ad/13604.html)

When the keypad is beeping, the display either shows STAY or AWAY with the A/C indicator in the corner...

let me know if you need more info...Thanks...

I stand corrected. That tells you how many of that model are installed in this area. However giving the user manual a quick read, on page 32, I see the Scheduling options. It may be possible that someone has inadvertantly triggered a scheduled event of some type. Given that the "P" series of vista models can have some of the keypads silent, this is an area to look at.

The problem appears to be a loose wire (one of the four colored wires) that connects the keypad...I tightened up the connections on all four and the beeping has appeared to stop...

d@mn thing started beeping around 3 am this morning while I was sleeping...hope this did the trick...would a loose wire causing something like this to happen?

Thanks MrRon for all of your help...

Yup, a loose wire could do this. The keypad would have a communication issue with the main panel, then clear itself before you got to the display.

now that I have two batteries for my control panel, would it be a good idea to wire the batteries in series (red wire to '+' on battery 1, '-' on battery 1 to '+' on battery 2, '-' on battery two back to black wire? or would this mess up the resistance or voltage (sorry wasn't into physics very much)...

No! That scheme would create a 24volt battery, which would trash the battery charger (and thus your alarm board).

You can wire them in parallel instead (+ to both battery positive, - to both battery negative) which will add the two battery amp/hour capacities together, (voltage adds in series, current adds in parallel) while staying a 12volt battery.
