Our bedroom floor is nice old hardwood, straight line paquet style, dark wood.
I am about to rip out the original fitted wardrobes and create a nice new modern clothes space with shelving/hanging etc... inside the alcove, with modern oak sliding doors on the front.
I'm stuck as to what I should do with the flooring inside the wardrobe space? I want to bring it up to the level of the hardwood floor, so the runners for the skiding doors will conceal the join from old wood to new but I cannot find a close match to the original floor.
I don't want to waste valuable time and money on such a small space, so any ideas?
The floor space is about 180cm X 65 cm.

Many homes I work in get cedar flooring and/or walls in wardrobes and closets. Looks good, smells nice, repels moths and is not expensive. For height difference, add a layer of ply. Cedar is available by the box in the box stores.

I have an uncle who built a very high-end home a few years ago and one of his favorite features was the cedar lined closet. You'll like it and I think it would also help resale - a double win.

Thanks to you both!
I'll check out the cedar.
