Hi there!
I was wondering what would be the best primer to use on some old wooden porch posts & rails. They're in quite bad shape and will need a lot of scraping & sanding before I prime. The homeowner has already bought CIL latex exterior paint & CIL latex primer. I'm thinking I would rather go with an alkyd primer from either BM or Zinsser. Any suggestions?

I agree oil primer would be better but as long as there is no chaulk [could add emulsa bond] and no stain issues the latex primer should be ok.
