Hi, I have a 1996 rudd 12 seer unit. I'm replacing the condensor fan motor. GE 1/8 hp 825 rpm. The replacement motor is a Fasco 1/8 hp 825 rpm. my question is the old motor has 3 wires 1-brown,1-orange and 1-black. the orange and brown look like they are hookup to the capacitor and the black to what looks like another capacitor. Now, the new motor has 4 wires 2 orange 1-brown and 1 black. the wiring diagram on the new motor shows connect the brown and 1-orange to the new capacitor and the black I assume would go to where the old motor black wire is connected and now what do I do with the extra orange wire. Please help.

The diagram for the new motor should tell exactly where all the wires go. What is the model # and serial # of the new motor??

The diagram for the new motor should tell exactly where all the wires go. What is the model # and serial # of the new motor??
The new Fasco motor model number is D832 and the S# 7128-0125 one thing I didn't mention on this new motor is that there were also 4 more wires but they are for the rotation. Like I said earlier in the first post this new unit has more wires then the old unit problem I'M having is what do I do with the extra orange wire do i not use it or where would it connect. The Diagram tells me that the 1-brown and 1-orange wire connect to the new capacitor and then the remaining 2 wires 1-orange and 1-black go to Line as described on diagram. (Old motor GE only has 3 wires 1-orange and 1-brown to capacitor and 1-black which I assume is hot and connects to what looks like a capacitor or something like it). NEED HELP Thanks

Wanted to see if you got an answer to your question?
Our outside fan motor on the Ruud unit is beginning to make some "bearing" type noise so I started to look for replacement motors just in case. The Fasco D832 seems to be a replacement for the 51-21276-02 (not totally sure yet) which led me to your question as I would probably see the same wiring concern if I went with that motor.
The D823 seems to comes with a different value run capacitor than the old motor, thus two wires from the new motor go to the new capacitor.
The orange wire that you didn't know what to do with, appears to need to go to the same place the old orange wire came off from. That point serves as a tie point to the start capacitor which is still needed and the old one is reused.
Baseing this only on my reading of the wiring diagram so you need to check and verify it for yourself.
What did you mean that there are four wires on the D832 that set rotation?
Jim

2 are going to go to the CAP
the other two take to each side of your contactor - where the power comes in from your disconnect, turn the power off first.....
the 4 other wires control direction of the shaft. CCW or CW
make sure you attach the proper wires to the cap and contactor, then double check.
