1: how to remove dog urine build up on hardwood. It’s in the cracks and seems to discolor the wood. floor has large cracks and is a bit old.

2. Also moving into a place with brand new floor seems there is a small thin sealant on the floor but the floor isn’t that tightly nailed. I want to place something over the floor on the first level of the unit to keep the water and urine that might happen out. What would I use to seal the floors that wouldn’t be a huge hassle and look horrible? something i could roll on? or wipe on..

Urine buildup?? Are the floors discolored to the point they are grayish? If so, unfortunately it has soaked in and it is pretty much unrepareable.....unless of course you remove the boards and install new ones in its' place.
As for the sealant question....I know of nothing. Urine is terrible for floors if you dont catch it and clean it up in time. Some people may mention wax or something similar but wax is also bad for wood floors (makes refinishing a pain). Keep in mind though that no matter what you do odds are the floor will be expanding and contracting durring different parts of the year. Grooves tend to appear in the cold dry months because the wood contract as it dries out......so if you do put something on it then odds are it really won't last any length of time. Maybe C.D.W. has some suggestions but I really don't know of anything. Good luck
