I'm considering installing wood laminate in my kitchen, but am hesitant for 2 reasons. First the occassional spill or flood -- I guess that's just a gamble. Second, what about the weight of the refrigerator? I assume you should put the laminate under the dishwasher, stove and frig. Wouldn't it be damaged when you have to pull out the frig. occassionally?

Thanks for your input and/or suggestions.

Wood laminate will be fine for the occasional spill. The problem is if you have a bunch of water that sits overnight. Then it could seep through. And you can (and should) install laminate under appliances. At my prior home I was able to easily move my refrigerator to clean behind it. The floor was not scratched or dented.

It's best to use a thin masonite or plywood to roll the ref. on to. A wood floor can dent noticeably if you don't protect it. I have seen this numerous times.
