I have a oak buffet that has a small piece of the veneer missing on one of the doors. Is it possible to patch this spot or do I have to remove the entire piece of veneer and replace it with a new piece? How does one go about patching veneer?

Thanks,
Krys

I read an article once about this... but as I recall, the process looked so detailed that it would be practically impossible for a novice or a doityourselfer to even attempt. The thickness of the veneer would have to be exact, and the fit of the patch would also have to be exact in order to hide the repair. I recall thinking that I'd never attempt such a thing!

If it's just one door that needs the reapir, it might be more feasable to cover the entire door (or the entire damaged section) with a new piece of veneer, doing a large area, rather than trying to patch in one little piece.

what is the size of the missing veneer?
dime size, quarter size or larger?

where is the missing piece located?
at the bottom of the door? top?
in the middle of the door?
on an edge?
