My two year old home has hard wired with battery back-up "chained" smoke alarms. Last night on three different occasions they went off for about five seconds each time. No fire thank goodness, but I can't account for them going off.....no high humidity source, no recent dust making, no recent cooking, the batteries were all replaced at the same time four months ago. Also, none of my electrically sensitive devices indicated any power problems during this time frame. Time to hire "Ghostbusters" or what? Please help.

It could be anything from small insects (silverfish and gnats are notorious for getting into sensing chambers) to enough of a temperature change for moisture to condense in the sensing chamber.
Even though these smokes are only a couple of years old, one of them could be failing. Anything from a months ago voltage transient to just dumb luck. You can try taking canned compressed air to each of the units, often that's all it takes.
