I bought a house with a DSC Power832 5210 and an LCD keyboard. The last owner did not use the system and did not have any codes. I have tried to change the Master Code using *5 1234 and *5 5210 but did not succeed.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks, John

From any keypad enter [8][5010]. If the default installer code is still in place, the Keypad will display ‘Enter Section’ followed by three dashes.

If so, press # until it comes back to run mode, and let us know. If it doesn't, then, short of a lucky guess, you will have to hardware default the system, which will wipe out all of the zone settings and other things.

If hardware default is the course of action, you will definitely need to get the manual and programming sheets for a Power 832 (PC5010). Let us know, before you default anything.

MrRonFL,

I really need your help. I have a DSC 832. MY access code quits working right after I stop monitoring. I called the installer and was told he never change the code. But all the keypads stop working. I installer told me he acviated the lockout. But the code shall work even with the lockout. Now only the # key is working on the keypads. Nothing else is working. I just want to use the system locally now. But the annoying beep sound from the keypad reives me crazy. What can I do? Please help.

Thanks,

So I tried *8 5010 but got an "Invalid Code" message

The unit asked for the installer's code as soon as I pressed *8
I proceeded with 5010 and got the "Invalid Code" message.

Any other thoughts or ideas before the ultimate reset?

Thanks Ron,

John

The common memory tricks installers use for their installer codes include: The ast 4 digits of their phone number, their street address, the last 4 digits of their business license number, the street address of the house the alarm's installed in, and last 4 digits of the monitoring center phone number.

Beyond that, with a DSC, you are stuck with hardware default, with the hope that they didn't use the installer lockout feature (you can check for it by powering down the panel. Upon power restoration, the phone relay will click 10 times or so if the lockout is turned on.)
