I just hit a submerged rock with my new Yamaha and knocked a couple 1/2" chunks out of the leading edge of the skeg. Nothing leaking or bent. I'd like to repair this myself and would like to know the best product for it. Thanks in advance.

Been there before,


Well I actually recomend, having someone aluminum weld it,

However you could try liquid welder or fiber glass resin.

I have also seen aluminuim protective plates for around $40 -60

might try e-bay, i dont have a link off hand.

West Marine and/or Overtons carries repair plates... I believe they epoxy right onto the lower unit fin.......

A stainless steel leading edge that bolts on is the best way. It will cover the damage and prevent future damage.
